Annika Lennarz is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at McMaster University. Her research focuses on experimental nuclear astrophysics, utilizing advanced facilities like TITAN (TRIUMF Ion Trap for Atomic and Nuclear Science) and DRAGON (Detector of Advanced Gamma Rays and Nuclear Observations). She specializes in studying nuclear reactions critical to understanding astrophysical processes such as nucleosynthesis in supernovae and novae, neutrino-driven winds, and double-beta decay mechanisms. Her work often involves precision mass measurements of exotic nuclei and radiative capture reactions. Dr. Lennarz collaborates with international teams to advance our knowledge of neutrino physics, radioactive isotopes, and nuclear reaction rates in extreme stellar environments. Her research interests include: Neutrino-driven nucleosynthesis in supernova environments Weak r-process reaction rates with radioactive ion beams Electron-capture branching ratios in double-beta decay Development of precision mass spectrometry techniques Gamma-ray spectroscopy of neutron-rich nuclei Recent contributions highlight her work on the BeEST experiment, exploring neutrino wavepacket properties through superconducting quantum sensors, and advancements in radiative capture resonance measurements using novel detector arrays.
