David Wood is a Professor at the University of Calgary's Schulich School of Engineering, Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, where he holds the Schulich Chair in Renewable Energy. His affiliations include directorship at the Wind Energy Institute of Canada, editorial roles for renewable energy journals, and memberships in research centers: CEERE, LTRAC, and CaPES. Previously, he was an academic at the University of Newcastle and researcher at NASA Ames. His research spans wind turbine aerodynamics, renewable energy integration, photovoltaic performance, and wind resource assessment. Recent work examines urban wind patterns, hydroturbine design, and solar array monitoring. Awards include the APEGA Environment Award (2015) and University of Calgary Peak Scholar (2015).
