Dr. hab. inż. Agnieszka Tomaszewska is an Associate Professor at the Department of Structural Mechanics, Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Gdańsk University of Technology. With her office located in the Main Building (room 467C), she maintains active research and teaching roles at the institution. Her academic journey began with obtaining her doctorate (dr inż.) in Construction (Technology) in 2007, followed by habilitation, earning her the title of Associate Professor. Her research spans the interdisciplinary field where civil engineering meets biomedical applications, with particular expertise in biomechanics, structural identification, and dynamic diagnostics. Dr. Tomaszewska's work bridges traditional structural engineering with medical applications, especially in hernia repair systems and abdominal wall mechanics. Her research methodology combines experimental measurements with advanced numerical modeling, creating a robust framework for analyzing both civil structures and biomedical systems. Analysis of her 15 most recent publications reveals a clear research trajectory focused on two main domains: civil engineering structures (particularly historic preservation and damage detection) and biomedical applications (especially hernia repair systems). Her work demonstrates consistent methodological rigor, employing modal analysis techniques across both domains. The publications show increasing collaboration with medical professionals, indicating the interdisciplinary nature of her current research. Minister of Infrastructure award for doctoral thesis (2008) Dr. Tomaszewska has been actively involved in multiple research projects, including serving as project manager for the HAL project on optimizing abdominal hernia treatment with synthetic implants (2009-2016), and as co-investigator in the OPUS project on mechanics of the anterior abdominal wall (2018-2021). She has also contributed to the 3D-JAW project focused on temporomandibular joint modeling. She leads the HAL 2010 research team at the Structural Mechanics Department, focusing on experimental research and numerical simulations in structural mechanics and biomechanics.
