Senior Lecturer
Dr. Sahar Bokosmaty is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education at the University of Wollongong, Australia, where she has been affiliated since 2021. Her research focuses on cognitive load theory, educational assessment, and child development, particularly examining how interventions and learning environments impact self-regulation and academic integrity. She has contributed to studies on parent-child interactions, the effectiveness of educational technologies, and cross-cultural comparisons in academic ethics. Her research interests span several key areas, including cognitive load theory, educational assessment methodologies, child self-regulation development, and the impact of technology on learning. She is particularly interested in how instructional design and parental guidance influence educational outcomes, as well as issues related to academic integrity in higher education. Her work also explores the intersection of motor movements and cognitive processes in learning contexts. In terms of grants, she has received funding for a project titled Handing control over to the learner to manage split-attention in digital instructional materials: does movement aid learning? (2013). She currently supervises PhD candidates researching topics like self-regulation in cognitive load-compliant learning environments and parent-guiding behaviors for child self-regulation development. Dr. Bokosmaty is actively involved in academic service, including membership in organizations such as the Mathematics Education Research Group of Australia (MERGA), Special Learning Disability (SPELD), and the American Educational Research Association (AERA). She has also served on the board of European Collaborative for International Schools (ECIS) and Mathematical Association of NSW (MANSW).
