Ebru Zümrüt BOYACIOĞLU is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Trakya University's Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. She currently serves as Head of the Department of Gender and Women's Studies at the Institute of Social Sciences since 2018, Advisory Board Member of the Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center (TÜKČAM) since 2020, and Field Editor for the Journal of Social Sciences since 2020. Previously, she served as Institute of Social Sciences Deputy Director (2016-2018) and TÜKČAM Director (2009-2018). Her educational background includes: Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Istanbul University (1994) Master's Degree in Social Sciences from Trakya University with thesis on 'The Socio-Economic Contribution of the Tourism Sector to Edirne Province and the Local People's Approach to Tourism' (2002) PhD from Trakya University Institute of Science with dissertation on 'Comparison of Developed and Developing Countries in Terms of Development Criteria and Recommendations for Türkiye' (2007) Currently pursuing additional studies in Sociology at Istanbul University Open and Distance Education Faculty Dr. BOYACIOĞLU's research spans multiple interdisciplinary areas with a strong focus on tourism economics, gender studies, sustainable development, and behavioral economics. Her early work examined tourism's socioeconomic impacts on Edirne province and Balkan countries, while her recent publications have expanded into behavioral economics, analyzing emotional aspects of economic decision-making through social media analysis. She has pioneered research on women's entrepreneurship in tourism and gender discrimination in the sector, and developed innovative economic frameworks like the 'White Economy' approach. Her work bridges theoretical economic analysis with practical applications for regional development. She has led significant research projects such as 'Women Entrepreneurship Academy and Capacity Development Awareness Meetings' (2025), 'Gender Equality Budgeting' (2013-2014), 'Socio-Economic Contribution of Trakya University to Edirne' (2009-2012), and 'Edirne as a Brand City' (2008-2009). She is deeply involved in gender studies initiatives at Trakya University, directing research on women's issues and contributing to national projects addressing women's problems in Edirne.
