Professor Yang Hyo-sik is a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at Sejong University, Seoul, Korea, where he has been employed since September 2006. His research spans electrical engineering and computer science with a focus on smart grid technologies and communication systems. Professor Yang received his B.E. in information and communication engineering from Myongji University in 1998, followed by M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Arizona State University in 2000 and 2005, respectively. Prior to joining Sejong University, he served as an Assistant Professor at Kyungnam University and as a Faculty Research Associate at Arizona State University. His primary research interests include smart grid technologies, particularly focusing on IEC 61850 communication architecture, wavelength-division multiplexing all-optical networks, mobile ad-hoc networks, and smart city applications. He is an active member of IEC TC 57 WG10 and IEC SyC Smart City and Smart Energy, contributing to international standardization efforts. Professor Yang's recent publications (2020-2024) demonstrate a strong focus on smart grid communication, energy management systems, and security protocols. His work shows a consistent trajectory toward integrating artificial intelligence techniques with traditional power systems, particularly in areas like demand response forecasting, energy storage control, and transformer fault diagnosis. Professor Yang leads the Next Generation Network Lab at Sejong University, where he mentors graduate students and conducts research on advanced networking and smart grid technologies. His teaching responsibilities include Computer Network, Master's Thesis Research, and Doctoral Dissertation Research at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
