Joana Cholin is a Professor of Psycholinguistics at Bielefeld University's Faculty of Linguistics and Literature since 2022. Her research focuses on speech production , stuttering mechanisms , linguistic creativity , and bilingual aphasia . Education : PhD in Linguistics (2004, Radboud University Nijmegen); MA in General Linguistics (1999, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf) Her research explores self-monitoring processes in neurotypical and impaired speakers, phonetic-phonological encoding in stuttering, and multimodal creativity in speech-gesture production. Recent projects include CRC1646 subprojects on phonetic innovations and word formation. Key publications analyze syllable frequency effects in English and German, motor learning in stuttering adults , and morpho-phonological interfaces . Articles appear in journals like Cognition , Brain and Language , and Frontiers in Psychology .
