Kimberly Quinn serves as Associate Professor of Psychological Science and Associate Chair of the Department of Psychology within DePaul University's College of Science and Health. Her academic journey includes postdoctoral positions at Dartmouth College and Northwestern University, following her PhD in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario. PhD, Psychology, University of Western Ontario (2001) MA, Psychology, University of Western Ontario (1996) BA, Psychology, McGill University (1994) Postdoctoral Researcher, Dartmouth College (2002-2003) Postdoctoral Fellow, Northwestern University (2000-2002) Professor Quinn's research spans multiple domains in social-cognitive psychology, with particular focus on face processing dynamics (examining when we categorize individuals versus perceive unique identities), interpersonal synchrony (how behavioral coordination influences social connection), and awe experiences in natural and built environments. Her work also explores how self-representations interact with physical spaces and social contexts, investigating topics like environmental equity, moral psychology, and social category representation. Through the DePaul University Social Cognition (DUSC) Lab, she examines how individuals' representations of themselves and others shape and are shaped by interaction. Her recent publications demonstrate strong interdisciplinary connections between social cognition, neuroscience, and environmental psychology, with growing emphasis on awe experiences and behavioral synchrony. The work shows consistent methodological rigor across experimental, neuroimaging, and field approaches. Professor Quinn actively mentors graduate and undergraduate researchers, supervising multiple PhD and MA students on projects ranging from morality research to face processing studies. She maintains significant international collaborations, particularly with the University of Birmingham where she previously held a faculty position. Her laboratory work is organized through the DePaul University Social Cognition (DUSC) Lab, which fosters interdisciplinary research connecting psychological science with real-world applications in public spaces and social environments. The lab maintains strong international partnerships, especially with UK institutions.
