Dr. Marina Downing is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Psychological Sciences, Monash University, and Deputy Director of the Monash Epworth Rehabilitation Research Centre (MERRC). She leads research on traumatic brain injury (TBI) outcomes, focusing on culturally diverse populations, return-to-work interventions, and sexuality post-TBI. Her work is funded by agencies like TAC and MRFF. Education : PhD in Psychology (La Trobe University, 2005), specializing in cognitive performance in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Research Interests : TBI rehabilitation strategies, cultural impact on recovery, vocational rehabilitation, and psychosocial needs post-TBI. Current projects include the Longitudinal Head Injury Study (3,500+ participants) and development of a Return-to-Work smartphone app. Collaborations : VSTORM group, Masstricht University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Epworth HealthCare. Supervised 6 students to completion or underway, with 11 non-HDR supervisory roles. Labs/Teams : Monash Epworth Rehabilitation Research Centre (MERRC), leading strategy and research oversight.
