Guadalupe Xochitl Ayala, PhD, MPH, is a Professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Science at San Diego State University's School of Public Health. She holds leadership roles including Co-Director of the Imperial County Clinical Research Network and former Division Head of Health Promotion and Behavioral Science. Her work focuses on reducing health disparities through community-based interventions targeting obesity, diabetes, and Latino health. Dr. Ayala is affiliated with the Institute for Behavioral and Community Health, SDSU HealthLINK Center, and the San Diego Prevention Research Center. Education: PhD in Clinical Psychology (Behavioral Medicine Track) from SDSU-UCSD Joint Program (2002), MPH from SDSU (2002), and prior degrees from University of San Diego and California State University, San Marcos. Research emphasizes culturally tailored interventions, peer support systems, and environmental strategies to improve health behaviors.
