Her work explores how divine names and epithets function as interfaces between religious systems and human agency, examining the complex interactions between different religious traditions in the ancient Mediterranean. She employs interdisciplinary approaches that combine historical, anthropological, and linguistic perspectives to understand ancient polytheistic systems. Her recent publications demonstrate a growing focus on digital humanities approaches to religious studies, particularly through the ERC Advanced Grant project "Mapping Ancient Polytheisms" which she led from 2017-2022. This work has produced significant insights into how divine epithets structure religious systems and shape human religious experience in the ancient world. Her notable scientific achievements include: Alexander von Humboldt Scholar (University of Tübingen, 1991) Senior Member of the Institut universitaire de France (2010-2015) Foreign Correspondent of the Academy of Inscriptions and Belles-Lettres, Institut de France (2012) Winner of the Franz Cumont Prize for the History of Religions (2015) Honorary Doctorate from the University of Lausanne (2016) Professor Bonnet has supervised numerous doctoral students and has secured significant research funding, most notably the ERC Advanced Grant 741182 project "Mapping Ancient Polytheisms" (2017-2022). She leads the ERC project team "Mapping Ancient Polytheisms" which brings together scholars from multiple disciplines to create a comprehensive database of divine epithets across the ancient Mediterranean world. This international collaborative effort represents a cutting-edge approach to the study of ancient religions through digital humanities methodologies.
