Professor Udoy Saikia is a Social Demographer at Flinders University's College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, with a PhD in Population Studies (2005) from Flinders University. He holds postgraduate degrees from the London School of Economics (M.Sc. Demography, 1994-95) and the International Institute for Population Sciences, India (Master of Population Studies, 1992-93). Research Interests: His work centers on population dynamics, human wellbeing, and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific and developing countries. He has led international projects in Timor-Leste, Papua New Guinea, and India, focusing on demographic dividends, fertility trends, and evidence-based policy research. He served as Vice President of the Australian Population Association (2011-2015; reappointed 2019-2021) and contributed to the UN's Global Sustainable Development Report (2019). Community Impact: As founder of South Australians Supporting Children and Women in Assam (SASCWA), he pioneered Toy Libraries, women's income-generation programs, and school infrastructure development for remote communities in India's Assam region.
