Assoc. Prof. İlker Üstoğlu is an academic at Istanbul Technical University , Department of Control and Automation Engineering. He holds a PhD in Control and Automation Engineering and has worked at both Istanbul Technical University and Yildiz Technical University since 1998. PhD: Control and Automation Engineering, Istanbul Technical University (2003) MSc: Control and Computer Engineering, Istanbul Technical University (1997) BSc: Electrical Engineering, Istanbul Technical University (1993) His research focuses on Mechatronics , Control Theory , and Safety-critical Systems , with applications in Railway Engineering , Model Predictive Control , and IEC 61508 safety standards. Recent work includes PID control for rail systems and augmented Markov models for hazard rate analysis. Key trends in his publications (2019–2023) include: (1) Transportation Electrification (DC rail systems), (2) Safety-critical Control (Markov models, N-version programming), (3) Hybrid Control Systems (neuro-fuzzy iterative learning). Project: Lateral beam guidance system design using H_inf optimal control (2020–2021).
