Soumya Manna is a Principal Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Design Engineering at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU), serving as Course Director for Biomedical Engineering and School Lead for Teaching and Learning in the School of ETD. She joined CCCU in 2019 after three years as an Assistant Professor in overseas higher education institutions. Her educational background includes: Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice, Canterbury Christ Church University, United Kingdom PhD in Medical Robotics, Bournemouth University, United Kingdom Master of Technology in Mechatronics, Indian Institute of Engineering Science & Technology, India Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Instrumentation, West Bengal University of Technology, India Dr. Manna's research centers on innovative medical device design, with a focus on wearable exoskeletons for rehabilitation, sensor-based gait analysis, telehealth solutions, and IoT applications in biomedicine. Her interdisciplinary work has led to collaborations on exoskeleton development, tele-neurorehabilitation portals, and electrotherapy tools, contributing significantly to the field of biomedical engineering. She has been recognized with the Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (UK) for her contributions to engineering education and pedagogical research. She actively serves the academic community as a guest editor, reviewer, and in quality assurance roles including course assessor and validation expert for UK and international higher education institutions. Additionally, she is a STEM ambassador, having participated in over 50 STEM activities to promote engineering education.
