Hyeran Helen Jeon, DDS, MSD, DScD , is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine , where she has served since 2018. After completing her DScD and orthodontic certificate at Penn, she transitioned to faculty and expanded her clinical practice at Penn Dental Family Practice. Her work bridges orthodontic mechanics with periodontal biology, informed by dual board certifications in Orthodontics (American Board) and Periodontology (Korean Board). Education: DScD and Orthodontic Certificate (University of Pennsylvania, 2016/2014), MSD and Periodontic Certificate (Ewha Womans University, 2007/2008), DDS (Pusan National University, 2004) Research Focus: Dr. Jeon investigates bone remodeling mechanisms in orthodontics, particularly inflammation-force interactions, wound healing pathways, and TADs for maxillary expansion. Her work spans cell signaling (FOXO1, RANKL) , animal models , and clinical imaging (CBCT, MRI) . She mentors students across disciplines, emphasizing translational research.
