Tito Trindade is a Full Professor at the Department of Chemistry, University of Aveiro, and a member of CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials. He has held academic leadership roles, including Director of the Department of Chemistry (2015–2019) and Scientific Coordinator roles. His research focuses on nanomaterials, with contributions to environmental remediation, bioapplications, and advanced material synthesis. He has authored 300+ publications, 3 patents, and co-edited books on nanocomposite particles and nanocrystal surface chemistry. Education: PhD in Chemistry from Imperial College London (1996), Licenciatura in Chemistry from University of Coimbra (1987). Research Interests: Synthesis and surface modification of inorganic nanocrystals, eco-nanomagnets for water purification, functional composites for biomedical and environmental uses, and inorganic pigment development. His lab (nanoLAB@dq-ciceco) specializes in nanomaterials for sustainable technologies like energy storage and water treatment. Awards: Recognized in the Stanford World’s Top 2% Scientists (2022, 2024) for research impact. Grants & Projects: Coordinator of projects such as PTDC/CTM-NAN/120668/2010 (nanomaterials for pollutant removal) and NEURONANO (magnetic nanoparticle-based gene delivery). Collaborates with institutions globally, including EULANEST and EU-funded networks. Teaching: Courses include Nanochemistry, Materials Chemistry, and Frontiers in Inorganic Chemistry. Labs/Teams: Active in CICECO, leading the Research Group 1 (Porous Materials and Nanosystems) and collaborating with over 40 researchers in areas like nanocomposite design and environmental nanotechnology.
