Assistant Professor
Dr. Aykut Aksu is an Assistant Professor at Trakya University's Kırkpınar Faculty of Sports Sciences, Department of Recreation. Appointed in 2023, he serves in multiple administrative roles including Vice President of the Recreation Department, Faculty Board Member, and Coordinator of the Unit Quality Commission. His academic journey includes a PhD in Physical Education and Sports from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University (2022), a Master's degree from Düzce University (2017), and a Bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University (2014). His work examines psychological, social, and physiological aspects of sports participation across diverse populations including children, student athletes, elderly individuals, and sports fans. He has conducted studies on nutritional approaches during the pandemic, stress levels in women related to exercise behavior, and recreational benefits of water sports like stand-up paddleboarding. His recent research increasingly addresses sustainability in sports, exploring green marketing practices, eco-friendly stadium management, and environmental impacts of major sporting events. His publications demonstrate a strong interdisciplinary approach connecting sports science with sustainability, digital technologies, and community health. Recent work includes examining the 2022 FIFA World Cup through sustainability lens, sustainable stadium management, and ecological footprint awareness of sports consumers across generations. His research on recreation benefits extends to water sports, traditional sports like wrestling, and innovative applications for elderly populations through projects like pickleball introduction in nursing homes. Dr. Aksu has earned numerous professional certifications reflecting his practical engagement with sports: Sailing Boat (D1), Windsurfing (RS1), International Children's Athletic Trainer, Tennis Assistant Coach, and various ISO quality management credentials. His teaching portfolio covers Leadership in Physical Education, Scientific Research Techniques, Sports Marketing, Sports Sociology, and SUP & Paddleboard instruction.
