Associate Professor
Jaehee Chung is an Associate Professor (non-tenure-track) at the Ochanomizu University Center for Japanese Language. Holding a Master of Arts in Linguistics from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, her research focuses on Second Language Acquisition Cognitive Linguistics Japanese Language Education Cross-linguistic Construal with particular emphasis on passive expressions, benefactives, and subjective perspectives in Japanese grammar. Notable projects include Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (2025-2029, 2022-2024) Development of situational understanding indices for Japanese native speakers and learners Analysis of explicit instruction effects on construal patterns She has taught at institutions including Waseda University, Nihon University, and Ochanomizu University, covering courses from beginner Japanese to advanced sociolinguistic approaches.
