Prof. Juraj Vaňko is a Professor at the Department of Slovak Language and Literature, Faculty of Education, University of J. Selye in Komárno, Slovakia. His academic roles include leading the Slovak language and literature teacher training program in combination form. He holds academic qualifications such as PhD (1979) and habilitation (1996) from Comenius University and was inaugurated as a Professor in 2002 at Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. Education: University of Prešov (1963–1968): Slovak and Ukrainian Language/Literature Rigorous Examination: Slovak Language (1973–1974) PhD in Slavic Languages (1974–1979) Research: Focuses on Slovak language morphosyntax, comparative Slavic linguistics, and machine translation. He led numerous research projects including VEGA-funded studies on Slovak language morphology (2005–2008), anthropocentric semantic categories (2012–2014), and machine translation error classification (2015–2023). His work bridges theoretical linguistics with practical applications in language education and technology. International Experience: Taught Slovak at Humboldt University (Berlin, 1980–1984), Panjab University (India, 1992–1994), and the University of Ljubljana (1999–2003). Collaborated with institutions in Germany, Poland, and the UK. Contributions: Authored over 50 publications including monographs, textbooks, and peer-reviewed articles. His work spans linguistic theory, language pedagogy, and computational linguistics. He has supervised numerous students and contributed to national and EU-funded educational initiatives.
