Professor
Henrik Danielsson is a Professor at Linköping University's Department of Behavioural Sciences and Learning (IBL), affiliated with the Disability Research Division (FUSA). He serves as Director of the Swedish Institute for Disability Research and leads research on cognitive prerequisites for communication in individuals with disabilities, focusing on intellectual disability and hearing loss. His work spans three core areas: cognitive functioning in intellectual disabilities, age-related hearing loss impacts, and assistive technologies for disabilities. He collaborates internationally with researchers like Lucy Henry and Kathy Pichora-Fuller, and is involved in the Linnaeus Centre HEAD and the n200 longitudinal study. His research emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, using methods like structural equation modeling to explore relationships between hearing, cognition, and social participation. He supervises multiple PhD students, including Lisa Palmqvist (planning abilities in intellectual disabilities) and Karin Nilsson (reading predictors in adolescents). Danielsson co-develops interventions, such as calendar-based reminders for cognitive support, and advocates for technology accessibility in education and healthcare. Key projects include studying dementia links to hearing loss, early interventions in special education, and the role of executive functions in communication. His contributions bridge cognitive science, disability studies, and applied research, addressing societal challenges through evidence-based strategies.
