With over 120 publications spanning from 2003 to 2025, Bar has established himself as a significant contributor to Central European medieval studies. Bar's research interests focus on medieval diplomatics, book history, and political relations in Central and Eastern Europe . His work particularly examines the intersection of religious conflicts and political diplomacy during the late Middle Ages, with special attention to the Hussite Wars, Teutonic Knights, and Polish-Lithuanian relations. He has developed expertise in codicology and paleography, especially regarding medieval manuscripts from Moravia. His recent projects demonstrate a growing interest in the material culture of medieval books, culminating in the comprehensive "Power of Ink" exhibition and publication series on medieval book culture in Moravia. Bar's publication trends reveal a sophisticated evolution from traditional diplomatic history toward interdisciplinary approaches combining legal history, book studies, and material culture analysis. While maintaining his core focus on medieval diplomacy and political relations, he has increasingly incorporated book history methodologies, particularly evident in his recent work on church libraries and monastic book production in medieval Moravia. His scholarship consistently bridges Czech, Polish, and German academic traditions, offering nuanced perspectives on Central European medieval history. As a supervisor, Bar currently guides doctoral research on "Medieval manuscripts of Queen Eliška Rejčka from the point of view of codicology, paleography and book history" . His editorial work includes significant contributions to thematic collections and professional books, most notably co-editing the comprehensive "Power of Ink" project that encompasses both academic publications and public exhibitions. His collaborative approach is evident through numerous co-authored works with colleagues like Stanislav Bárta, Lenka Šmídová Malárová, and Lukáš Führer. Bar's institutional work extends beyond individual scholarship to include organizing academic workshops, serving on editorial boards, and curating the "Power of Ink" exhibition at Masaryk University. His research team includes specialists in various aspects of medieval book culture, ranging from codicologists and paleographers to art historians and conservators, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of his current research focus.
