Isabell Gabriele Maria Richter-Jacob is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at NTNU's Faculty of Social and Educational Sciences. She holds a PhD from NTNU and has conducted extensive research on the interplay between human behavior and environmental challenges, particularly in marine conservation and plastic pollution. Her work emphasizes community engagement, future scenario development, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Education: Diploma in Psychology focusing on power dynamics and environmental behavior (Germany) PhD from NTNU (2017) on sustainable seafood consumption Research Focus: Environmental psychology, sustainable behavior, marine conservation, plastic pollution, and climate change communication. She co-leads NTNU's Plastic Research Cooperation Group and co-founded the journal Global Environmental Psychology , prioritizing open science and Global South representation. Key Projects: GCRF Blue Communities (2018-2022): Marine biosphere reserves in Southeast Asia NTNU Circular Economy Project (2021-present): Reducing plastic pollution in Norway Multiple international collaborations on plastic pollution in South Africa, Namibia, and Borneo Awards: UN Ocean Decade Fellowship (2020) German Scholarship Organisation Fellowship (2019-2020) ACU Fellowship (2019) Advising & Grants: Supervises 4 PhD students and has led/co-led grants totaling over 10 million NOK. Her work includes innovative methods like comic-based education and participatory future scenario development. Labs/Teams: Co-leads Plastic Research Cooperation Group at NTNU, collaborates with over 200 scientists globally through GCRF Blue Communities.
