Mihai Horoi is a Professor in the Department of Physics at Central Michigan University, under the College of Science & Technology. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics and an M.S. in Computer Science, and has over 20 years of experience in research and teaching in theoretical nuclear physics and high-performance computing. His work integrates physics and computer science to solve complex quantum problems. His recent publications reveal a strong focus on nuclear matrix elements for double-beta decay, center-of-mass corrections in nuclear models, coupled-cluster methods for heavy nuclei, and optimization algorithms for atomic cluster geometry. The research spans theoretical nuclear physics, computational physics, and materials science, reflecting interdisciplinary expertise in quantum systems and high-performance computing. Dr. Horoi has secured external funding from the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy Office of Science. He has developed the CMichSM code for nuclear structure calculations and has extensive experience in software and hardware evaluation for scientific computing environments.
