Barbara Colombo is a Professor and Co-Program Director of the Psychology BS program at Champlain College in the United States, where she founded and currently directs the Neuroscience laboratory. Her academic leadership spans program development and laboratory direction within the institution's psychology framework. Her research concentrates on neuropsychological factors in healthy aging, non-invasive brain stimulation for neurorehabilitation, and emotion regulation. She extensively investigates creativity mechanisms including metacognitive experiences during creative processes, imagery's role in cognition, and neural correlates of musical creativity. This work bridges cognitive neuroscience, gerontology, and psychological rehabilitation with strong interdisciplinary applications. Analysis of her 2020-2021 publications reveals three dominant research trajectories: (1) Cognitive aging studies examining psychological symptoms' impact on divergent thinking and cognitive reserve in neurodegenerative diseases; (2) Creativity neuroscience utilizing tDCS to probe mirror systems and metacognitive processes; (3) Media psychology research on how visual editing density affects time perception through oculomotor mechanisms.
