Irina Obeada is a PhD student and Associate Lecturer in the Department of Marketing at Lancaster University Management School. Her research sits at the intersection of Consumer Culture Theory and the sociology of risk, examining voluntary risk-taking in consumption and consumer culture. MReS Advanced Marketing Management, Lancaster University (Distinction) BSc (Hons) Marketing with Psychology, Lancaster University (First Class Honours) Her work employs concepts like the life course perspective, edgework, and consumer counter-mythology to explore how artistic expression helps individuals navigate risks. She is supervised by Professor James Cronin and Professor Maria Piacentini. Her publications focus on the interplay of risk and life course in consumption practices, as well as post-consumption communities in recoverism and art. These studies reflect her interest in micro-social and macro-political dynamics of consumer behavior. Distinction in MReS Advanced Marketing Management First Class Honours in BSc (Hons) Marketing with Psychology Obeada has participated in CCI Roundtable Sessions on topics like Valentine’s Day consumption, Christmas consumption frenzy, and the cost of living crisis. Her current research project investigates public experiences of service change in primary care (2023–2026).
