Senior Lecturer
Dr. David Armitage is a Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Technologies at the Leicester School of Pharmacy, De Montfort University (DMU). He holds a BSc in Physics from the University of Bristol, an MSc in Materials Engineering from the University of Liverpool, and a PhD from the University of Nottingham. His career includes a Marie Curie Fellowship at a Belgian medical device manufacturer and postdoctoral research at the University of Nottingham and University College London. He joined DMU in 2008 after serving as a Lecturer in Mechanics of Materials at Leicester University. Research Interests : Dr. Armitage focuses on surface modification techniques, biomaterials, and analytical tools for pharmaceutical and biomedical applications. His work includes developing novel PAT (Process Analytical Technology) tools for powder flow measurement, antimicrobial nanoparticle efficacy, and enhancing implant biocompatibility through surface treatments. Awards : He was awarded the prestigious Marie Curie Fellowship for interdisciplinary research in medical device innovation. Teaching : As Admissions Tutor for Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Science (PCS), he oversees admissions and teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including Pharmaceutical Processes and Technologies , Quality by Design , and Process Analytical Technology . He leads modules in Analytical Techniques in Materials Sciences and supervises research students in pharmaceutical technologies. Research Group : He is affiliated with DMU’s Pharmaceutical Technologies group, exploring cutting-edge applications in drug delivery systems and biomedical materials.
