Associate Professor
Dr Xuan (Lorna) Wang serves as Associate Professor in Marketing and Revenue Management at the University of Surrey's Surrey Hospitality and Tourism Management department within the Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences. She concurrently holds the position of Co-Director for the Centre for Research on Ageing and Generations and maintains affiliations with the Centre of Excellence on Ageing and Centre for Sustainability and Wellbeing in the Visitor Economy. Previously, she held academic positions at the University of West London and Middlesex University London, where she served as Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer respectively while leading various postgraduate programs. Her research focuses on Revenue Management, Customer Relationship Management, Key Account Management, and Brand Reputation Management, with recent expansion into ageing studies examining how hospitality settings can enhance senior citizens' social well-being and combat loneliness. Her work bridges theoretical frameworks like the Job Demand-Resources model with practical applications in tourism and hospitality contexts. Current research trajectories explore digital inclusivity for older workers, workplace ageism, and cross-cultural comparisons of age-friendly policies. Professor Wang has received multiple scientific awards including the Outstanding Reviewer Award from the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management (2017), Best Research Paper Award at the 5th International Conference on Services Management (2011), and the Institute of Hospitality Millennium Research Award (2000). She serves on editorial boards for leading journals including International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, The Service Industries Journal, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, and Journal of Revenue and Pricing Management. As an active PhD supervisor, she mentors students researching topics such as value co-creation in online travel platforms, crisis management in health-related emergencies, and voice assistant technologies for combating loneliness. Her industry experience includes former managerial roles as Marketing Director and Rooms Division Director in China and the UK, where she earned recognition including the 'Lord Forte Award' and 'Service Pacesetter' designation following the 1990 Asian Games in Beijing.
