Associate Professor
Dr. Chun-Da Chen serves as Associate Professor of Finance in the School of Accounting, Finance and Economics at Lamar University, where he has been faculty since 2015. His academic journey began in Taiwan with positions at multiple universities before transitioning to Tennessee State University (2006-2015) and ultimately Lamar University. Dr. Chen's research focuses on international finance, stock market dynamics, derivatives, and risk management with particular emphasis on emerging markets. His work frequently examines cross-market linkages between U.S., European, and Asian financial markets, investigating volatility transmission, herding behavior, and macroeconomic impacts on asset prices. He employs advanced econometric techniques including GARCH models and time-series analysis to study phenomena such as the B-share discount puzzle in China, oil-stock market relationships, and financial distress prediction. His publication record shows consistent output in reputable finance journals including Tourism Management, North American Journal of Economics and Finance, Energy Economics, and Managerial Finance. Recent research trends indicate growing interest in sustainable finance (hospitality industry sustainability), fintech (mobile payment behaviors), and international market integration.
