Senior Lecturer
Ines Esteves Domingues Pires Da Silva is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney, and a Cancer Institute NSW Early Career Fellow. She leads translational oncology research in the FMH Translational Research Collective, focusing on immune checkpoint therapies, tumor microenvironment dynamics, and resistance mechanisms in melanoma and lung cancer. Her research integrates clinical and molecular oncology to develop predictive biomarkers for immunotherapy response. Key interests include organ-specific treatment resistance, combination therapies, and real-world outcomes across melanoma subtypes and thoracic malignancies. Recent studies explore stromal T-cell spatiotypes, KRAS-mutant NSCLC, and seasonal toxicity patterns. Dr. da Silva's publications demonstrate consistent focus on immunotherapy optimization in advanced cancers, with 2023-2025 works highlighting biomarker discovery, treatment durability, and novel therapeutic combinations. Over 85% of recent articles address clinical translation of immune-oncology concepts. Awards & Fellowships: Cancer Institute NSW Early Career Fellowship (2022) Research Leadership: Dr. da Silva mentors graduate students including Marissa GUAN (PhD candidate studying squamous cell carcinoma metastasis) and has secured competitive grants: NHMRC Ideas Grant: Liver metastases: therapeutic opportunities (2022) CINSW Translational Program Grant: Personalized Immunotherapy Platform (2021) She co-leads multidisciplinary teams at the FMH Translational Research Collective focusing on biomarker-driven clinical trials. Current projects investigate organ-specific resistance mechanisms and next-generation immunotherapies.
