Laura Nicosia is a Professor of English at Montclair State University, affiliated with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. She holds a BA from Saint Peter's College, an MA from Montclair State University, and a PhD from New York University. Her research focuses on Modern/Contemporary American literature, Young Adult/Children’s Literatures, and educational applications of social media. She co-edits volumes for Salem/Grey House Press and serves as a Volume Advisor for Gale Publishing's literary criticism series. Dr. Nicosia is a NJ State Ambassador for ALAN (Assembly on Literature of Adolescents) and a Past-President of the NJ Council of Teachers of English (NJCTE). She is also a New Jersey Council for the Humanities Public Scholar, delivering professional development across the tri-state area. Her awards include CHOICE Outstanding Academic Titles for works like Notable Writers of the American West (2023) and Notable American Women Writers (2021). Her pedagogical focus includes diversifying syllabi to address themes like mental health, trauma, and class inequity. She collaborates closely with her husband, Dr. James Nicosia, on edited collections such as Critical Insights: Frankenstein (2024) and Digital Literacy: Skills & Strategies (2022). She also curates entries on authors like John Green and Gloria Naylor for Gale's literary reference series.
