Lecturer
Ferruh Özalp is a Lecturer in the Department of Kindergarten Teacher Education at Oslo Metropolitan University, within the Faculty of Teacher Education and International Studies. He serves as a study leader in area 1 and is actively involved in the BLEST research group, focusing on sustainability, play, aesthetics, and technology in early childhood contexts. His research interests include: Early Childhood Education Multilingualism and Language Identity Inclusion and Cultural Diversity Digital Tools in Preschool Learning Sustainable and Aesthetic Pedagogy Refugee Children's Education The body of his work, spanning from 2005 to 2019, demonstrates a consistent focus on equity, language rights, and inclusive practices in kindergarten settings. His publications reveal a strong emphasis on the experiences of minority-language children, particularly Turkish-speaking children in Norway, and the systemic challenges they face. He frequently explores how identity is constructed through language and how educators can foster respectful, inclusive environments. His recent work extends into multilingual ECEC for refugee children and the integration of digital and aesthetic methods in diverse classrooms. Scientific contributions include a peer-reviewed chapter, a comprehensive research report, and multiple dissemination works in conferences and public forums.
