Alister Burr is a Professor of Communications at the University of York, affiliated with the School of Physics, Engineering and Technology. He holds a BSc from the University of Southampton and a PhD from the University of Bristol. His research focuses on wireless communication systems, including MIMO, modulation/coding, and physical layer network coding. He has authored over 150 publications and a textbook on wireless communications. Awards include the J. Langham Thompson Premium (2002) and a Royal Society Fellowship (1999). He chairs the European COST 2100 programme and has held visiting roles at Vienna University of Technology. Current research spans 5G/6G, distributed MIMO, and iterative techniques. His work addresses challenges in channel modeling, precoding, and energy efficiency.
