Iain Atack is a Professor at Trinity College Dublin, serving as Head of School for the Confederal School of Religions, Theology and Ecumenics (which includes the Irish School of Ecumenics). He has been a Coordinator of the M.Phil. programme in International Peace Studies and actively teaches modules on the Politics of Peace and Conflict, Conflict Resolution and Nonviolence, and Armed Conflict, Peacebuilding and Development. Education: B.A. in Philosophy, Trinity College Dublin M.Phil. in Peace Studies, Trinity College Dublin M.A. in Philosophy, University of Toronto D.Phil., University of Ulster (Thesis: Contingent Pacifism and Moral Pluralism) His research focuses on the ethics and politics of nonviolent action, the dynamics of peacebuilding, pacifism, and moral philosophy. He has published extensively on these topics, including books such as The Ethics of Peace and War: From State Security to World Community (2005) and Nonviolence in Political Theory (2012), both published by Edinburgh University Press.
