Prof. Dr. Nesrin KARTAL ÖZER is a distinguished academic in Medical Biochemistry at Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine (English). With a career spanning over four decades, she has held academic positions at Hacettepe University and Marmara University, achieving her Professor title in 1994. Her research focuses on endoplasmic reticulum stress, lipid accumulation, and metabolic diseases, particularly in the context of vitamin E's regulatory roles. Licence: Hacettepe University, Faculty of Pharmacy (1977) Doctorate: Hacettepe University, Faculty of Medicine (1983) Her work integrates biochemical mechanisms with clinical applications, emphasizing cholesterol-induced pathologies and antioxidant interventions. Recent publications highlight her contributions to understanding Nrf2 activation, lipid droplet dynamics, and inflammation resolution in metabolic diseases. As director of the Metabolic and Inflammatory Diseases Application and Research Center, she leads cutting-edge studies in metabolic stress pathways. Prof. Özer has actively participated in academic editing for journals like Free Radical Biology and Medicine and Mechanisms of Ageing and Development . She supervises numerous research projects and has contributed to international conferences on metabolic diseases and vitamin E biology. Her scientific network spans multiple disciplines including hepatology, cardiovascular research, and cancer biology.
