Farook Hamzeh is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta since 2019. He previously held faculty positions at Colorado State University (2009-2011) and the American University of Beirut (2011-2019). His research focuses on advancing Lean Construction principles through digital transformation, including BIM, Digital Twinning, and wearable sensors, to optimize construction productivity and reduce process waste. Ph.D., University of California, Berkeley M.S., University of California, Berkeley M.S., American University of Beirut B.S., American University of Beirut His work integrates lean methodologies with Industry 4.0/5.0 technologies such as AI, robotics, and simulation to address challenges in production planning, value management, and human-centered systems. A co-author of the seminal book Lean Construction 4.0 , he has published over 200 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Recent publications emphasize AI-driven workspace planning, fuzzy logic for lean assessment, entropy-based project dynamics, and human-cognitive load analysis in construction environments. His research frequently involves collaboration with students and international institutions, focusing on offsite construction, modular systems, and digital twin applications.
