Prof. Dr. Aynur KIRBAŞ is a distinguished Professor of Medical Biochemistry at Ahi Evran University, Faculty of Medicine, where she has served since 2023. Previously, she was an Associate Professor at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University (2022-2023) and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University (2013-2022), and an Assistant Professor at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University (2009-2013). She currently serves as both Professor and Head of Department at Ahi Evran University, and as Education Coordinator since 2025. Dr. KIRBAŞ earned her Bachelor's Degree from Atatürk University, Faculty of Medicine (1994-2000) and completed her PhD/Medical Specialization at Süleyman Demirel University, Faculty of Medicine Hospital Application and Research Center (2002-2007). She has obtained proficiency in English with a score of 77 on the ÜDS exam in Fall 2010. Her research focuses on medical biochemistry, particularly oxidative stress, inflammation markers, and biomarker research in various clinical conditions. With 102 publications to her name including 84 articles, she has made significant contributions to understanding biochemical markers in neurological disorders, cardiovascular disease, metabolic conditions, and inflammatory processes. Her work frequently examines YKL-40, copeptin, and other novel biomarkers across diverse clinical settings from stroke to rheumatological conditions. Dr. KIRBAŞ has led or participated in 17 research projects, primarily funded by higher education institutions, investigating topics ranging from hirudotherapy effects to novel inflammatory markers in pleural effusion. Her most recent projects examine the effects of hirudotherapy on exercise-induced fatigue and the relationship between serum BDNF and NGF levels in restless leg syndrome. She has received recognition for her work, including an award in 2006 for research on lisinopril's effects on lipid peroxidation in hypertensive rats. Her scholarly impact is evident with 675 citations and an h-index of 16 according to UNIS metrics. Dr. KIRBAŞ actively contributes to her field through editorial work for journals including Current Research in Health Sciences and The Eurasian Journal of Medicine, and maintains professional memberships in the Turkish Clinical Biochemistry Association, Turkish Biochemistry Association, and Clinical Biochemistry Specialists Association. Her teaching portfolio includes numerous biochemistry courses covering topics from vitamin metabolism to laboratory quality control.
