Kjetil Sunde is a Professor at the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine , Oslo University Hospital and University of Oslo. With a career spanning over three decades, his research focuses on emergency medicine , post-resuscitation care , and traumatic brain injuries . He has led groundbreaking work in cardiac arrest management , including therapeutic hypothermia and targeted temperature management . Certified MD (1991), PhD (1999), and specialist in anesthesiology/intensive care (2000) Professor since 2009; Chief Physician at Ullevål University Hospital since 2000 His research combines clinical trials (RCTs), registry studies , and porcine animal models to explore myocardial injury , cerebral perfusion , and long-term outcomes for cardiac arrest survivors. Recent projects analyze mild hypercapnia effects and social media's role in ICU guideline adherence . He has collaborated internationally through the European Resuscitation Council (Co-Chair, 2006-2010) and European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (Chair, 2016-2019).
