Professor
Tracy Harwood is a Professor of Digital Culture at De Montfort University, affiliated with the Leicester Media School and the Institute of Creative Technologies (IOCT) . She directs the Usability Lab and founded the Art AI Festival, a world-leading event for creative AI applications. Her work bridges digital culture, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction. PhD in Negotiation Behavior Director, Usability Lab Founder, Art AI Festival Co-host, And Now For Something Completely Machinima podcast Her research focuses on AI, IoT, VR/AR/MR , and their societal impacts. Recent work includes PLEA: The Embodied Virtual Being (2024) and studies on zero-carbon design. She has secured grants from AHRC, EPSRC, and Arts Council England. Key scientific awards include: De Montfort University Teacher Fellow (2003) HEA National Teacher Fellow (2004) Fellowships: FHEA, FRSA, FNCUP She has advised students on topics like Adaptive Interfaces , AI in Theatre , and Digital Economy , with alumni including Kokil Uttam (2019) and Boomer Jason (2021).
