Associate Professor
Till DEMBECK is an Associate Professor and Head of the Institute for German Language, Literature, and Interculturality at the University of Luxembourg's Faculty of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences. He holds a PhD from the University of Siegen, with prior fellowships at the DFG-Graduiertenkolleg (University of Gießen) and a Fulbright scholarship at the University of Washington, Seattle. His academic journey includes teaching at German and Latvian universities and a DAAD role in the Baltic region. His research focuses on German literary history, multilingual philology, and cultural theory. Key themes include literary multilingualism, 19th-century lyric poetry and linguistics, and the relationship between literature and media. Recent work explores the 'Ethification of the Digital' and challenges monolingual assumptions in literary studies. He co-edits the Journal of Literary Multilingualism and has authored influential monographs such as Der Ton der Kultur (2023). Teaching spans undergraduate through PhD levels, emphasizing literary theory, media history, and digitalization. His publications reflect a commitment to interdisciplinary dialogue, bridging philology, cultural studies, and digital humanities.
