Senior Lecturer
Eloise Calandre is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Brighton’s School of Art and Media, affiliated with the Centre for Arts and Wellbeing and the Photography Research Excellence Group. She specializes in teaching Fine Art and Fashion Communication, emphasizing inclusive pedagogies and curriculum development. Her academic career includes a Higher Education Academy Fellowship (2015). Eloise holds a BA (Hons) Fine Art from the University of Leeds (1998), an MA in Photography from the Royal College of Art (2001), and an MA in Computer Games Art & Design from Goldsmiths, University of London (2018). Her research explores the interplay between photography, performance, and digital mixed reality, focusing on themes like female experience, materiality, light/shadow dynamics, and virtuality. Key exhibitions include Ambient Occlusion (2024) and Real Time (2020), while her publications include contributions to Brow: No.1. Process (2023). She has also engaged in artist residencies, including House Projects (2007) and the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris (2001). Awards include her Higher Education Academy Fellowship. Her work often involves collaborative projects, such as performances with Harold Offeh, and explores intersections of technology, body, and space through exhibitions, installations, and publications.
