Professor
Dr. Tsung-Teh Wu is a Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. His clinical and research focus lies at the intersection of gastrointestinal pathology, hepatology, and molecular diagnostics. With over two decades of experience, Dr. Wu has established himself as a leading expert in the histopathological evaluation of gastrointestinal and hepatic disorders. National Taiwan University College of Medicine (BM, 1985) National Taiwan University (MS, Pathology, 1987) University of Pennsylvania (PhD, Pathology, 1991) University of Pittsburgh (Residency & Chief Residency, Pathology, 1994-1995) Johns Hopkins University (Fellowship, Gastrointestinal Pathology, 1996) Dr. Wu's research interests encompass a broad spectrum of gastrointestinal pathology, with particular expertise in celiac disease, microscopic colitis, Barrett's esophagus, hepatocellular adenomas, and various liver pathologies. His work bridges the gap between basic science and clinical practice, with numerous publications that have significantly advanced the understanding of diagnostic criteria, molecular markers, and histopathological features of gastrointestinal diseases. His recent work demonstrates a strong commitment to developing standardized diagnostic approaches and translating research findings into clinical practice. Analysis of Dr. Wu's recent publications reveals a strong focus on diagnostic criteria standardization, molecular characterization of gastrointestinal and hepatic pathologies, and development of novel diagnostic approaches. His work spans from basic histopathological studies to multicenter clinical trials, demonstrating his commitment to translating research findings into clinical practice. Key themes include molecular characterization of liver tumors, standardization of diagnostic criteria for celiac disease, and development of non-endoscopic detection methods for Barrett's esophagus. Best Paper by Pathologists-In-Training Award, Stowell-Orbison, USCAP Meeting (2004) Runner-Up Award for the Best Presentation by a Resident, Gastrointestinal Pathology Society, USCAP Meeting (2000) Award for the Best Presentation by a Resident, Gastrointestinal Pathology Society, USCAP Meeting (2000) Yeh-Su Pathology Award (1987) Dr. Wu has served in leadership roles within several professional organizations, including as President of the Washington DC Chapter of the Society of Chinese Bioscientists in America. He is an active member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American Association for Cancer Research, and the Gastrointestinal Pathology Society. His research has been supported by various institutional grants, and he serves on the Upper GI Cancer Tissue Bank Committee and the Institutional Research Grants Program at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Wu's contributions to gastrointestinal pathology continue to shape diagnostic standards and improve patient care through evidence-based pathology practices.
