Assistant Professor
Hussein Nassar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Missouri, College of Engineering. He holds a PhD from Université Paris-Est, an MSE from École des Mines – ParisTech, and a BS from Sorbonne Université. His research focuses on connections between elasticity, geometry, and wave mechanics with applications in architected materials and metamaterials. Research interests span solid mechanics, lattice structures, origami-inspired designs, and wave propagation phenomena. His work combines theoretical modeling with computational approaches to develop novel material systems with tailored mechanical properties. Recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on metamaterials and wave mechanics, with emerging themes in origami engineering and computational tutorials. Articles frequently explore deformation mechanisms, transformation elasticity, and wave manipulation through geometric design. Awards: NSF CAREER Award
