Professor Luzi Beyer serves as Professor for Methods of Quantitative Research in Social and Health Care at Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin (ASH Berlin) since 2017, where she also holds leadership positions as Head of the Master's program in Practical Research in Social Work and Education (since 2021) and Vice Dean of Department I (since 2023). Her academic career spans over two decades with previous appointments at Humboldt University of Berlin (1996-2011), H:G University of Health and Sport (2010-2013), and HMKW University of Applied Sciences (2013-2017). Professor Beyer earned her Dr. rer. nat. from Humboldt University of Berlin in 2001 with a dissertation titled "Components of the training and use of inductive knowledge," following her training as a graduate psychologist. Her professional development reflects a strong commitment to methodological rigor and practical application in social and health care research. Her research program focuses on innovative applications of quantitative methods to address pressing challenges in mental health and social care. Current work centers on developing AI-supported screening portals for traumatized refugee minors (TRAM project funded by BMBF), evaluating serious games for health promotion among older adults (BARMER-funded project), and investigating mental and physical health of students in diverse learning environments. She specializes in human-technology interaction to improve mental health outcomes, with particular attention to vulnerable populations including refugees, older adults, and students facing diverse challenges. Her methodological expertise spans statistical analysis, research design, and evaluation frameworks applicable across social and health sciences. Professor Beyer has secured significant research funding from major organizations including BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research) and BARMER (German healthcare insurance provider). Her current projects involve interdisciplinary collaborations across multiple institutions, with emphasis on translating research findings into practical applications that improve health outcomes and social services. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, with recent work focusing on mixed-methods approaches, digital interventions, and inclusive research design. As an active member of the German Society for Psychology (DGPs) and the Association of German Psychologists (BDP), Professor Beyer contributes to professional discourse in her field. She serves on the board of ZeE eV (Center for Empirical Evaluation Methods) and participates in numerous academic committees focused on research methodology, ethics, and the application of digital technologies in health care and social work. Her work bridges theoretical research with practical implementation, emphasizing accessibility and relevance to real-world challenges in social and health care systems.
