Associate Professor
Britt Dahlman is an Associate Professor in Classical Greek at the Center for Theology and Religious Studies (CTR), Faculty of Humanities and Theology, Lund University. She specializes in the study and editing of ancient and medieval Greek texts, particularly monastic literature such as the Apophthegmata Patrum and hippiatric texts. Her research interests include: Digital editing and encoding of manuscripts Textual fluidity and redactional changes Translation issues in multilingual traditions Authorship questions in ancient texts Language analysis in historical contexts Monastic literature and early Christian studies Dr. Dahlman's scholarly output demonstrates a consistent focus on patristic literature, monastic texts, and digital humanities approaches. Her work bridges traditional philological methods with innovative digital tools for manuscript analysis and database creation, showing particular expertise in textual fluidity and multilingual textual traditions. Scientific recognition: The Harry Karlsson Prize for Research in the Humanities (2008) Dr. Dahlman has secured significant research funding from multiple prestigious sources including the Swedish Research Council, Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation, and Crafoord Foundation. She currently leads three major research projects: 'Metaphrasis and Gender,' 'Authority, Community and Individual Freedom,' and 'Knowledge, Magic and Horse Medicine in Late Antiquity.' She is actively involved with several research teams and digital initiatives, most notably as co-editor of four important databases: APDB (Apophthegmata Patrum DataBase), Monastica, HIPPO (with its digital platform Hippiatrica), and HAMEN (Hagiography and Menologia Database).
