Professor
Christophe Delacourt is a Professor at the University of Western Brittany (UBO) within the Ocean Geosciences Laboratory at the European University Institute of the Sea (IUEM). He holds key roles including Co-Director of the ILICO Research Infrastructure, Coastal Project Manager at CNRS-INSU since 2016, and Head of the International Expertise Unit at the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI) since 2011. His work bridges coastal geoscience, remote sensing, and environmental monitoring. Education: He holds a Habilitation (2005) and PhD (1997) in Geophysics from the Institute of Earth Physics of Paris. His training includes degrees in Geophysics, Remote Sensing, and Physics from leading French institutions. Research focuses on coastal morphodynamics, remote sensing applications, UAV/drone-based monitoring, cliff erosion mechanics, and climate change impacts. He pioneers low-cost geomatics solutions and integrates multi-source data for coastal observatories. His work emphasizes tropical and temperate coastal systems across France and overseas territories. Key contributions include advancing satellite imagery analysis (e.g., Pléiades), smartphone photogrammetry, and AI-driven sediment dynamics modeling. He leads initiatives like the ILICO infrastructure, fostering interdisciplinary coastal research and international collaboration. Labs/Teams: Active in Geo-Ocean Lab (IUEM), oversees HIRACLES and OBSERA projects, and contributes to missions like BIODIVERSITY. His teaching spans geophysical methods and fieldwork at undergraduate/master’s levels.
