Prof. Dr. Murat ÖZGÖREN is a Professor in the Department of Biophysics at Dokuz Eylül University. He holds significant roles in EU research infrastructure initiatives, including serving as the Turkish National Delegate to the EU Research Infrastructure Agency (ESFRI) and member of the ESFRI Forum. Previously, he served as Vice Rector for Research and Technology at Dokuz Eylül University (2012–2016), during which he established DEPARK-Health, Turkey’s first integrated Health Technopark. His expertise extends to entrepreneurship ecosystems, leading the International Health Technologies Accelerator (Bioİzmir) and contributing to national biomedical councils. Education: Graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine, completed residency in Family Medicine, and earned a PhD in Biophysics with NATO-funded research at the University of Miami. Research focuses on sleep neurophysiology, EEG analysis, and biomedical engineering applications. He actively advises on EU strategic roadmaps for health infrastructure and participates in G20/T20 initiatives. Research interests include sleep architecture, sensory processing during sleep, and Parkinson’s disease diagnostics via EEG. His work bridges clinical neurophysiology with technological innovation, such as developing molecularly imprinted nanoparticles for environmental analysis and designing biomedical sensor systems.
