Dr Georgia Curran is a research fellow at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music , University of Sydney, with adjunct affiliations at the Australian National University . As Chair of the International Council for Traditions of Music and Dance's Study Group on Music and Dance of Oceania and advisory board member for the Music and Minorities Research Center (Vienna), she bridges academic research with community-led initiatives. University of Sydney Robinson Fellowship (2023-2026) ARC Discovery Project (2022-2025) Adjunct Researcher, Australian National University Her research focuses on Indigenous Australian music and languages , examining how Warlpiri song traditions adapt through generational transmission while maintaining cultural integrity. She explores performance ethnography , oral traditions , and community archiving of cultural heritage materials. Recent publications analyze global minority music traditions , digital preservation , and ritual adaptation across diverse contexts including Portuguese Burgher dance and Kodava songs. Her 2025 Routledge book establishes frameworks for sustaining endangered performance traditions. University of Sydney Robinson Fellowship recipient Australian Research Council DECRA awardee (2020-2023) As co-host of the Music!Dance!Culture! podcast, she amplifies underrepresented voices through interviews with global culture bearers. She supervises research projects aligned with her expertise in Indigenous cultural preservation and performance revitalisation .
