Teaching Professor
Emily Mann serves as a Teaching Professor in the Human Services Program within Northeastern University's College of Social Sciences and Humanities and holds a Senior Research Associate position at the Kitty & Michael Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy. A founding member of the Northeastern University Public Evaluation Lab (NU-PEL), she leads community-based evaluation initiatives bridging academic research with practical policy applications. Her educational foundation includes: PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison MSSW from the University of Wisconsin-Madison BA from the State University of New York Geneseo Dr. Mann's research centers on developmental trajectories in children and adolescents, with particular focus on how educational and clinical interventions mitigate risk factors and promote resilience. Her prevention science expertise informs evaluations of community programs addressing youth violence, educational equity, and health disparities, consistently emphasizing community partnership models. Analysis of her 15 most recent publications reveals sustained focus on program evaluation methodology applied to youth-serving systems, with increasing attention to crisis response (notably pandemic-era education) and health equity frameworks since 2018. Her work demonstrates methodological versatility across quantitative longitudinal studies and community-engaged qualitative assessments.
