Professor Natalie P. Stoianoff is a Professor and Director of the Intellectual Property Program at the Faculty of Law, University of Technology Sydney (UTS), since 2008. She chairs the Indigenous Knowledge Forum Committee and serves on the UTS Commercialisation Advisory Panel. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on biotechnology law, patenting living organisms, software, business methods, and environmental taxation. She has led projects on Indigenous Knowledge protection, including the Garuwanga initiative exploring governance frameworks for access and benefit-sharing regimes. Professor Stoianoff has authored/co-authored prominent legal texts such as Commercialisation of Intellectual Property (2019) and Intellectual Property Law: Text and Essential Cases (5th ed., 2019). She secured grants including an Australian Research Council Discovery Grant (2005–08) and a Linkage Grant (2016–19) for Indigenous Knowledge governance. Her work bridges legal, ethical, and commercial dimensions of technology and environmental stewardship. She has contributed to international projects, including investigations into patent protection in key Australian industries and the role of IP in economic development. Her research also addresses challenges in China’s IP enforcement and compliance with the Convention on Biological Diversity.
