Elham Torabi is an Associate Professor of Computer Information Systems and Business Analytics at the College of Business, James Madison University. She holds a Ph.D. in Operations, Business Analytics, and Information Systems from the University of Cincinnati (2016). Her research focuses on Healthcare Analytics, Operations Management, and innovative teaching practices emphasizing student engagement and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in education. She has published in journals such as Journal of Information Systems Education and INFORMS Transactions on Education , exploring topics like service operations principles in academia and Bayesian approaches to student motivation in business analytics courses. Her healthcare-related work includes developing frameworks for operational metrics in healthcare delivery systems (e.g., FASStR) and applying simulation modeling to improve emergency care workflows. She has also studied workflow optimization in mid-level care provider environments and capacity management strategies for multi-priority patient systems. Torabi’s teaching philosophy integrates pedagogical innovations to enhance student motivation and engagement.
